I picked up the January 2012 issue of Mopar Muscle. My car made it in the reader's rides section. I just received an e-mail from the magazine saying the car is going to be featured in the issue, released on March 6, 2012, of Mopar Now.
The car has also been in Mopar Action, and HorsePower Magazine Issue #29. On 5 May 2012, I won my first Best of Show. I was for "Best Late Model" at a local show in Newport News, VA, hosted by the Middle Peninsula Mopar Association.
This car is almost fully loaded. I've invested in some stainless accents for under the hood to dress up the engine bay and to hide all the wires behind the block.
Performance wise I have a C&L intake, Diablosport Predator tuner and I've changed the thermostat to 180 degree. I've used the tuner to set the fan setting cooler since the car lost about 10rwhp on the dyno after 200 degrees. The dynopak priviously used showed 340 rwhp and 360 ft. lbs but based on reading post on the internet, the car was overtuned and the full power wasn't achieved. I had the canned 93CAI tune in for this run. After reading several post about the 93CAI vs. the 91CAI tune, I changed. The car feels so much better. I have not dynoed the car since changing the tune and adding the exhaust; will do so after getting the new exhaust and seeing if the tune can be changed to a more aggressive one. I'll datalog to see where knock begins.
Also I've added a catch can to to stop oil from getting back into the intake manifold. These engines really dump a lot of used oil when under heacy load through the PCV Valve. What happens is oil goes through the PCV valve and then is shoved into the intake mainfold. Sensing this the engine will detect knock (pre-detonation)and retard the timing. Slowing the timing down will cause the power level to drop. A catch can doesn't make more power, it just allows the car to use its power. I empty mine out every 2 weeks and get about a teaspoon out everytime.
One thing I love about doing car shows is meeting people who love the car as much as I do. One of my regular buddies told me about a trick to do with the steering wheel controls. If you hold the music note and the home button down at the same time for about 5 seconds it'll take you to a new screen with many options. One option is a 0-60 MPH timer. To start just "GO". The time is saved if it is your best time and will reset if it's not. Thus far, my best 0-60 MPH time is 4.89. I saw better times with the ESP on rather than diabling it. The Super Track Pack has any option to disable the ESP but I'm not having any luck with the tires hooking up when I do this. We all have read about how the car don't do burn outs too well. The cars they are testing must be pretty week as this 5.7 Automatic will lay some serious black marks even without any brake assistance.
I've also changed the factory splitter with the 392 splitter. Everything bolted right up and it looks so much better than stock.
I hope you enjoy this car as much as I do. This is my dream car hands down.
Below is a list of all the stock options used in this car, provide by Dodge per VIN.

So I said that I ordered a Borla ATAK system for the car. Well it finally came in and it is amazing. I'm going to post a video once I stop driving the car around so much. The car is very aggressive at take off of any speed but when I cruise at speed I forget I even have anything back there. With the windows up, its even quieter. Remember that is cruise, when you open it up it is beyond loud. I love it. I'm playing with the tune to put as much in without having knock. Once I get it figured out the car will go to the dyno and finally to the track.
I took the car to Mopar Madness 2012 at Virginia Motorsports Park. The car won the Challenger class and ran 13.31 at 103 MPH on the track. Since the above times the only thing I've added was the Borla ATAK catback system. The tune was the 93CAI DiabloSport tune. After the track official sprayed water all across the water box, I had no choice but to turn the tires over to get all the water off them. I decided to put the car in first and try to keep it there through a burn out. I rolled through the box and without stopping, I punched the gas and worked the throttle. The car did a great burn out like it was a stick. I have no clue how I keep it in first the hole time but it was awesome.
