About my Dart
A 72 Dart with a 318. The 318's got a little punch with some mild cam work, cherry bomb dual exhaust, a new performance edelbrock intake, new 4 bbl edelbrock carb, performance transmission, custom shift kit and 2300 rpm stall. Were not afraid to beat the car up so we don't mind dousing a little bit of Nitrous as well.
History:
My ride begins in the passenger seat of my fathers dodge mini van. As a married, family man he reminisced telling me the stories of his old Hot Rod stomping grounds around Detroit on woodward, racing at detroit dragway and the airstrip him and his friends commanded when he left home and headed down south to Texas. He became a motorhead when he was 17 and took over the familys grocery getter. Typical muscle car love story so far as he grew up to hot rod and street race. He planted something inside me when he told me about bulking up his basic 318 76 dart to a fully blown 440 competition eating monster.
So when i was getting around that precious age of legally holstering my own drivers license in my back pocket i could only think about driving an old dodge something that i could make new memmories with my father and the dime a dozen mustangs i'll find on the street, only because Mopar runs in the blood. That old something was first a 65 Dodge Dart where I learned to clean an engine, rebuild a carb, bust my knuckles and change plugs. Then a few years later driving up North off the side of the highway at a place in Angola, Indiana awesomely named "up in smoke" a tobacco and firework shop secretly stashed my best friend, a beat up, rust shinning, mouse house.
I yelled at my dad to pull over and lets just take a look. Now my 65' is gone but what will connect me to my father forever, the mopar family and my alter ego sits in the garage waiting to be unleashed every summer.
