Who: Bill Purvis Where: Olalla, Washington What: 1970 Plymouth
I bought this Roadrunner in 1976 from the original owner. It was originally a 383 car but now has a 440 Six-Pak with 284/484 cam and 1 ¾ “ headers on it. It has a 4-speed, Air-Grabber, 3.23 gears and 15x7 Rallyes. The car was repainted in its original color of B-5 Blue in 1985 by Jack Bravata of Grand Rapids, Michigan. All of the stripes are as it came from the factory when purchased brand new at Ver Hage Plymouth in Hudsonville, Michigan. After several years in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, we moved to Temecula, California in 1996 then in 2001 we moved to Seattle, Washington. While it was in Michigan, we went to Martin US 131 Dragway and Central Michigan Dragway to race the ‘Runner. As the car sits in street trim, it has ran a best of 13.90 at 103+ with the 440. This car has seen many Mopar and Car Craft Nationals which we attended with Hank Chachulski and his 70 Superbee who was one of your Pentastars in the Sept. 2009 issue.
