I've got a 1979 Lil Red with terribly sloppy steering. I'm going to replace the steering box but want to brace the frame while I'm in there. I haven't found any frame braces on the net. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

It's a nice truck, I have one also that I restored a couple of years ago. Check the frame for a crack right where the steering box bolts to the frame. They are noted for cracking. You can buy a brace to help fix the problem after you get it welded. The braces were used on the later trucks. Also search the junk yards for one. Have fun restoring it, and be careful, there is a lot of mis information out there. Join the Lil red express club (Hampton Roads) Skip is the guys name, They are very helpful.

That is a very cool truck. In 1978 the Lil Red Trucks were the fastest domestic made autos. I like the 79s too. I once saw a Lil Red Truck hurt a 78 Corvettes feelings. It will look great after you finish. Good and streight now. Gotta love those tuff steering wheels very cool. Good Lookin truck.
